Vignette – a photographic story telling project by Gina Cioffi Nov 7-28
Gina Cioffi is a photographer, an aspiring filmmaker, and above all else, a story teller.
Vignette, a community storytelling project, invites gallery visitors to write a caption, paragraph, short story or contribute a scene to an ongoing story.
Participants can choose among the photographic images from a trio of local photographers; Hannah O’Connell, Dennis Wheeler and Gina Cioffi and are invited to sit down and craft a Vignette, which is a short impressionistic scene that focuses on one moment or gives a trenchant impression about a character, idea, setting or object.
The project originated in 2014 and has contributions from 50 writers. Works collected over the past two years will be showcased and new submissions will be placed in the gallery exhibit as the goal of the exhibit is to engage and celebrate the collective imagination of the community.
“If you love words, ideas and images, and are curious about how a story evolves, Vignette is an experience which we hope will influence your notion of the role you play in creating a world where imagination is limitless, and where our stories are prologue to a provocative conversation which never ends.” according to Robert O’Connor, exhibit curator and owner of Second Story Art Gallery.
The event opens with a reception from 5 – 7 pm on November 7. A reading of the works submitted will take place on November 28 from 3:30 – 5:30 with prizes for the top three Vignette’s.
